March Events & Info…

UPDATE: 3/12/20 – Unfortunately, but understandably – and after careful consideration by their respective organizers, these March events have been canceled.  Stay safe everyone! We look forward to seeing you Out and About as soon as possible!

Here are our (thus far) confirmed events for March:

It’s Haus MRKT time! This is one of our favorite events held at Haus820 – such a great venu and a perfect way to kick off your weekend! It’s always a great time so be sure to come out Friday, March 13 from 5:30pm-9:00pm and have some fun taking in some amazing local artists / vendors. Be sure to stop by and see us so that you can see the new rustic-industrial, functional art wares we have to offer!

How about a great night of basketball and art all in one location? Come check out the Lakeland Magic as they take on Grand Rapids at the RP Funding Center on Saturday, March 14 as they celebrate a night dedicated to the arts – where local artist will showcase their talents during a pre-game art festival prior to tip-off. The doors will Open at 5pm for the pre-game show and the game will start at 7pm.

Head on out to the Marc in Lakeland on Saturday, March 21 for the opening reception of Art Splash from 7pm-9pm. The show will run from 3/21-3/28 and will showcase 29 artists who participated in the 2019 Art Crawl – and we are honored and excited to be listed among them!

Looking forward to these events and we’re already getting events on the calendar for April – so we have a lot to look forward to and hope to see you out and about! Of course you can always find us at the Studio/Gallery/Mercantile on Saturdays from 10am-4pm and Sundays from 11am-4pm or on our Facebook page!

December Events & Info…

We have a couple of events we’ll be participating in this month to close out this amazing year!

We’ll be at Haus820 on Friday, December 13 for their Holiday MRKT from 5:30-9pm and we’ll be at Grove Roots Brewing Co. on Wednesday, December 18 for their Mistletoe Market from 6-9pm! Be sure to come on out to these great events and check us out! And maybe also pick up that #unique #rusticindustrial #functionalart Ware that will make the perfect gift for anyone on your list (including yourself)!

We’ve been staying busy with custom requests since our official Grand Opening last month – and there’s still time for your own custom build to be completed before Christmas, but the window is closing quickly! If you want to give a truly unique and personalized gift, a custom Ware is the perfect choice and we’d love to create something for you that is guaranteed to spread some holiday cheer!

Come on by the Studio / Gallery / Mercantile (Saturday 10am-6pm / Sun 11am-4pm) to see our current Wares – or to speak to us about a custom build, and be sure to check out our Facebook page to stay current on all the happenings at the Nest!

Hope to see you Out and About or at the Studio / Gallery / Mercantile!

(Non)Functional Art?…

It’s another Crow’s Nest Artisanal Wares first!

Anyone who’s familiar with our particular brand of handcrafted, rustic-industrial functional art knows that we place the emphasis on “functional” – in that nothing is there for decorative purposes only. Whether it’s incorporating a valve handle, a voltage meter, an outlet box or a combination of any or all of these elements, everything is functional and does just exactly what it appears it should do.

That being said, when we found out the Lake Wales Arts Council was holding it’s Inaugural Fine Arts Show – Competition Exhibit, we definitely wanted to throw our hat in the ring to see about having one of our works represented. Unfortunately, after reading through the Specifications and Restrictions, we found that listed among the “not acceptable work” section were “pieces requiring electricity” – so that severely cut our existing entry possibilities by. . . oh, let’s call it 100%!

Clearly, we needed to regroup in order to even be able to apply for participation in the juried selection process – so we did, but we also stuck to what we know and work best with!

The two pieces below were submitted for consideration and we’re very excited to share that one of them has been selected for inclusion in the show – which runs from November 14 – January 23! We won’t know which one until the Opening Reception on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at 6pm – but no matter which, we’re super honored to  have our work chosen for participation!

So, here is your advanced look at our first ever, rustic-industrial, non functional art!
